Add some wild edibles to the wetest part of your property!

While traditionally grown along stream banks or in other moist areas, watercress can be successfully grown in containers and set in saucers of water. Watercress has a creeping growth habit and develops broader leaves than extra curled cress. Leaves have a crisp, pungent flavor when young.

  • PLANTING & GROWING

Prepare a moist, sunny location, either outdoors or indoors, sow the seeds thinly, keeping the soil consistently moist, and maintain cool temperatures (50-60°F). Watercress thrives in wet conditions, so ensure the soil or growing medium remains saturated.

  • FLAVOR & PAIRING

A very distinctive flavor! Pungent, peppery flavor, often described as having a bright, slightly bitter, and earthy taste. It's a member of the mustard family, sharing flavor similarities with mustard greens and wasabi. The flavor can be more intense when raw, with the pungency mellowing slightly when cooked.

Is fabulous as a side to any protein, soup, or fresh salad.
