Artemisia suksdorfii (coastal mugwort) is a, hardy, rhizomatous perennial native to the San Juan Islands, thriving on rocky beaches and coastal bluffs. It grows 1.5–6 ft tall with aromatic, green, hairless tops and white, woolly under-leaves, producing spike-like, yellow-green flower clusters from summer to fall. It is deer resistant, and drought tolerant.
You will find other types of Mugwort at Korean Bathhouses diffused into hot pools for relieving sore muscles and as a rebalancing herb for women's reproductive health. We are celebrating our local version, which is just as aromatic and lovely.

PLANTING & GROWING
It is best to plant Mugwort in the early spring after a period of cold stratification. The time to harvest it is right before it enters the flowering stage since that is when the energy will be strongest in the leaves.
