WHAT MAKES THIS TEA SPECIAL

Our production is unique. The entire processing of our harvest takes place on site in nature. We fill large basins with spring water from a near by source to rinse the long narrow tea leaves, before  transferring them onto cotton canvas tarps to wither. Within an hour the leaves are pliable and ready to be hand rolled and stored for transport back to our facility where they will complete a four to five day enzymatic oxidation phase. Last but not least the tea leaves go through a roasting stage and stored to age for three months for premium quality flavor.

HISTORY OF FIREWEED TEA

Fireweed grows rampantly across the Northern hemisphere. Tribes from Alaska and Pacific Northwest, including the Skokomish, Denaʼina, and Yupik, are known to have incorporated it into their diets and traditional medicine. The tea became known internationally once it was introduced through Russia  as Ivan Chai, and was a heavily traded item in the 13th century, with some suggesting it was even more popular than black tea in Britain for a period. today in the UK fireweed tea is called Rosebay Willowherb as it much resembles the color and structure of willow leaves.
